· Third on the list, garlic has antifungal properties. Simply just insert a glove into the vagina for a few hours.

· Next, yogurt is more likely to be the number one choice since it contains lactobacillus acidophilus which is a naturally occurring bacteria in our vagina. Apply it directly, or freeze it into a tampon and insert it into the vagina.

· Potassium sorbate is a potent fungicide used for preserving food and brewing beer. To use it, make a 3% solution buy adding 1 tablespoon potassium sorbate to a cup of water. Dip a tampon into the water and insert it at bedtime and remove in the morning.

· Gentan violet is a traditional remedy for yeast infection. Swab it on the vulva up into the vagina once or twice a day for a few days.

· And lastly cranberries which is often used a treatment for UTI. It lowers the urinary ph which may be useful for combating yeast infection.

For temporary itch relief, use a paste of elm powder and a little water and apply as needed combined with antifungal cream.

While many of the home remedies will take care of the yeast infections, sometimes we are forced to get powerful treatments, meaning going to the pharmacy. There are three basic types of over the counter antifungal medicines.
